Winchester Double X 12 gauge buckshot delivers 12 pellets of copper-plated 00 buck at 1450 fps from a 3-inch magnum hull. This load is engineered for hunters pursuing big game at close to moderate range — hogs, deer, black bear — where maximum pellet count and deep penetration matter more than soft recoil. The copper plating reduces barrel fouling and maintains pellet roundness through the forcing cone, translating to tighter patterns downrange. Each 5-round box ships with Boxer primers and reloadable plastic hulls, letting handloaders recycle brass and wads for practice loads.
Built for the Box
Winchester uses a one-piece plastic hull with a folded crimp to keep shot columns stable during transport and feeding. The copper plating on each 00 buck pellet — nominally .33 caliber — resists deformation when pellets stack inside the hull and when they encounter the choke constriction. You get 12 pellets per shell, a higher count than most 2¾-inch loads, which typically hold 9 pellets. Muzzle velocity sits at 1450 fps, placing this load in the magnum category and generating approximately 3200 foot-pounds of combined energy at the muzzle.

This load requires a shotgun chambered for 3-inch magnum shells — firing it in a 2¾-inch chamber creates dangerous pressure spikes. Pair it with an improved cylinder or modified choke for dense patterns inside 30 yards, or use a full choke when shots stretch past 35. Stock 12 gauge buckshot ammo for hog hunts, predator control, and home defense applications where over-penetration through light barriers is acceptable.
Safe Handling & Compliance
Federal law requires purchasers to be at least 18 years old for shotgun ammunition.
