You’re looking at 6.5 PRC ammo purpose-built for the hunter who demands both terminal performance and environmental compliance. Weatherby Select Plus pairs the 6.5 Precision Rifle Cartridge with Hammer Custom 124-grain solid hollow point bullets — a monolithic, lead-free projectile that expands reliably across a wide velocity range while retaining near-100% of its weight. At 3100 feet per second and 2646 foot-pounds of muzzle energy, this load delivers the flat trajectory and downrange energy needed for ethical kills on deer, antelope, and larger game at extended ranges. Norma brass cases and Boxer primers ensure consistent ignition and support reloading after your hunt.
Load Profile
Weatherby builds Select Plus ammunition around premium components — Norma brass known for concentric case walls and consistent internal volume, paired with Hammer Custom bullets engineered for controlled expansion without lead. The 124-grain solid hollow point is a turning-band monolithic that sheds its nose petals on impact, creating a permanent wound channel while the shank drives deep. The 0.478 G1 ballistic coefficient keeps this bullet supersonic past 800 yards from a 24-inch barrel, with minimal wind drift compared to lighter cup-and-core projectiles. Brass cases are reloadable; confirm your dies accommodate the 6.5 PRC’s .532-inch case head and 2.030-inch case length before processing your fired brass.
