The 500 S&W Magnum ammo from Underwood pairs 350 grains of solid copper projectile engineering with velocities that exceed 1850 feet per second from a revolver barrel. This load is chambered in 500 S&W Magnum, a cartridge designed for handgun hunting of large game where deep, straight penetration matters more than expansion. The Lehigh Xtreme Penetrator bullet relies on radial flutes machined into the nose to channel hydraulic forces inward, then redirect energy outward in high-pressure spikes that damage surrounding tissue—without fragmentation or deformation on impact with bone, hide, or intermediate barriers.
Built for the Box
Underwood machines the Xtreme Penetrator from bar-stock copper alloy, not powdered metal, so the bullet resists deformation when contacting hard surfaces that collapse lead-core or jacketed designs. The progressive nose geometry drives penetration in a straight line while the fluted channels force fluid displacement laterally, creating a permanent wound cavity diameter two to four times larger than ball or flat-nose bullets produce. Muzzle energy reaches 2660 foot-pounds—enough to anchor elk, bear, or feral hogs at handgun distances where shot placement and penetration depth determine outcome. Nickel-plated brass cases resist corrosion, feed smoothly in cylinder-to-forcing-cone transitions, and accept new primers after firing. Boxer primers are non-corrosive. Each box holds 20 rounds.

Safe Handling & Compliance
Federal law requires purchasers to be at least 18 years old for rifle and shotgun ammunition, and at least 21 for handgun ammunition. Ammunition cannot be shipped to certain states, counties, and cities — review our ammunition shipping restrictions before ordering. Store ammunition in a cool, dry location away from heat sources and out of reach of unauthorized users.
- Review the four universal rules of firearm safety before handling any firearm or ammunition
- Verify current state and local regulations governing ammunition sales, possession, and use in your jurisdiction
- Store ammunition in original packaging, away from heat, moisture, and petroleum-based solvents; inspect cases and primers for corrosion before use
