Trijicon RMR® Type 2 Red Dot Sight

$895.00

The Trijicon RMR Type 2 brings adjustable LED illumination and a patented impact-absorbing housing to slide-mounted pistol optics. This RM07 variant carries a 6.5 MOA dot — the largest in the RMR LED line — for fast target acquisition at close quarters or when vision clarity demands a bigger aiming point. Manual and automatic brightness modes toggle via side buttons; after 16.5 hours of inactivity, the optic defaults to auto mode so it’s ready when you are. Compatible with night vision devices and identical in footprint to the original RMR Type 1.

The Trijicon RMR Type 2 is a slide-mounted miniature reflex sight engineered for duty pistols, concealed carry handguns, and any platform where shock resistance and illumination control matter. Trijicon designed the Type 2 housing with a patented geometry that diverts slide-impact stress away from the lens, reducing the risk of cracked glass during sustained live fire. The RM07 model pairs that reinforced shell with a 6.5 MOA dot — the largest dot Trijicon offers in the adjustable LED series — giving you a visible aiming reference under daylight, low light, and close-quarters engagements where fractions of a second count.

Optic Overview

Side-mounted buttons let you toggle between eight manual brightness levels and an automatic ambient-sensor mode. In manual mode, your last setting holds for 16.5 hours; after that window, the RMR reverts to automatic brightness so you don’t lose your zero if you grab the pistol days later. A button-lock function disables manual adjustments entirely, forcing the optic into auto mode to prevent inadvertent presses during holstering or bag carry. All brightness levels work with night vision devices, making the Type 2 a crossover optic for LE patrol officers who train with NVGs and citizens who mount tubes for home defense. The physical footprint and mounting holes match the original RMR Type 1, so any holster, plate, or slide cut for the legacy model accepts the Type 2 without modification. Note that Glock MOS, Springfield OSP, Walther PDP, and H&K VP9 Optics Ready pistols require Trijicon’s AC32064 mounting kit to achieve proper height and zero retention.

Who It’s For

The 6.5 MOA dot serves three audiences: shooters who need fast target acquisition inside 15 yards (duty officers, competitive USPSA carry-optics divisions), older shooters whose presbyopia makes smaller dots vanish against busy backgrounds, and anyone running the RMR on a backup gun or subcompact where a larger dot compensates for a shorter sight radius. If you zero at 10 yards, the 6.5 MOA circle subtends roughly 0.68 inches — small enough for A-zone hits on an IPSC target, large enough that your eye picks it up the instant the gun clears the holster. Pair the Type 2 with a suppressor-height front sight so you have an iron reference if the battery dies mid-string.

Safe Handling & Compliance

Optics do not replace the four rules of firearm safety. Confirm your zero on paper before trusting the dot in defensive scenarios, and verify that your holster clears the optic body without actuating the brightness buttons.

  • Always treat the firearm as loaded, even with an empty chamber indicator visible.
  • Check your state and local laws governing concealed carry and optic-equipped handguns before carrying in public.
  • Lock the brightness buttons if you carry appendix or inside-the-waistband to prevent unintended mode changes during reholstering.
