The Super Safety flat face trigger kit delivers an active reset mechanism for the AR-15 platform, built around D2 tool steel components and an 8620 hardened steel trigger shoe. This drop-in kit replaces the standard trigger assembly with a system that uses a safety cam and magic lever to facilitate faster reset between shots. You receive four core components: the mil-spec straight flat-face trigger (pre-cut), the D2 tool steel safety cam, the D2 tool steel magic lever, and the safety detent pin. The flat trigger face provides a consistent contact surface, and the active reset design shortens the trigger’s return travel after each break.
How It Works
The Super Safety system reconfigures the trigger-safety relationship. The safety cam and magic lever work together to alter the trigger’s reset behavior — when the bolt carrier cycles rearward, the system engages the trigger’s sear surface earlier in the cycle than a standard mil-spec trigger, reducing the forward distance you must release the trigger before it resets. This mechanism requires a full-auto rated bolt carrier group to function reliably, as the carrier tail geometry must engage the magic lever correctly during recoil. Buffer weight matters: most builders find an H2 buffer necessary to ensure the BCG cycles with enough momentum to complete the reset sequence, though gas system length and spring rate may require adjustment. Improper buffer weight or BCG design will cause short-stroking or incomplete reset.

| Platform | AR-15 (mil-spec lower receiver) |
| Trigger material | 8620 hardened steel |
| Safety cam material | D2 tool steel |
| Magic lever material | D2 tool steel |
| Trigger face | Straight flat |
| Drop-in | Yes (requires BCG and buffer verification) |
| Kit includes | Trigger, safety cam, magic lever, detent pin |
The kit ships with all components pre-cut and ready to install in any mil-spec AR-15 lower receiver. Trigger aesthetic may vary by production run, but all flat-face orders receive flat-face triggers. You will need to verify your bolt carrier group is rated for full-auto use and confirm your buffer weight and spring combination before installation. Matching It to Your Build
This trigger works best in builds where the shooter prioritizes rapid follow-up shots and has already tuned the rifle’s cycling system. Competitive shooters running 3-gun or steel challenge matches see the largest benefit, as the shortened reset reduces the trigger’s return distance between strings. Home defense and general-purpose builds benefit less unless the shooter trains regularly with the system’s unique reset feel. The active reset mechanism demands more attention to setup than a standard trigger: if your BCG does not have the proper carrier tail geometry, the magic lever cannot engage during recoil, and the system will not function. Similarly, undergassed rifles or light buffers may not generate enough carrier velocity to complete the reset cycle. You must test-fire the rifle after installation and adjust buffer weight or gas block setting until the trigger resets reliably on every shot.
At the Bench
Install the Super Safety trigger following the same pin arrangement as a standard AR-15 trigger group — hammer pin and trigger pin holes align with mil-spec spacing. The safety cam replaces the standard safety selector, and the magic lever mounts behind the trigger spring. Pin the safety detent in place per your lower receiver’s detent channel. After assembly, insert the bolt carrier group and manually cycle the action several times — the trigger should reset audibly on each rearward stroke. If the trigger does not reset, check BCG carrier tail length and buffer weight before live-fire testing. At the range, load one round and fire — the trigger should reset immediately as the bolt cycles back. If you experience light primer strikes or fail-to-reset malfunctions, increase buffer weight incrementally (H1 to H2, H2 to H3) until cycling completes reliably. Do not adjust the magic lever or safety cam dimensions — these components are pre-cut to the manufacturer’s specifications, and altering them will void function.
Safe Handling & Compliance
Per current ATF guidance, active reset triggers are classified as semi-automatic trigger assemblies — each round fired requires a discrete trigger function, and the device does not convert a firearm to automatic fire. Regulatory status has changed before and may change again; verify current federal and state law before ordering. Several states and municipalities have enacted bans on fire-rate-modifying devices or forced-reset triggers. This product cannot be shipped to California, Colorado (Broomfield and Boulder County), Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, or Washington. Verify your jurisdiction’s current regulations before purchasing.
- Follow the four rules of firearm safety at all times: treat every firearm as loaded, never point the muzzle at anything you are not willing to destroy, keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire, and be certain of your target and what lies beyond it. Review our firearms safety guidelines.
- State and local laws vary — consult state firearm regulations before ordering trigger components.
- Test-fire the rifle in a controlled environment after installation. Active reset triggers require BCG and buffer verification to function safely. Do not use this trigger if the rifle fails to reset reliably during test cycles.
