Super MCX SSA – Geissele Curved Trigger

$325.00

Geissele delivers the Super MCX SSA — a two-stage trigger engineered for the SIG MCX platform. Derived from the CRANE Safety Certified M4 carbine trigger, the Super Semi-Automatic (SSA) brings a 2.75–3 lb first stage and a crisp 1.5–1.75 lb second stage for a total pull of approximately 4.5 lbs. The curved bow design offers consistent finger placement, and the two-stage break balances precision shooting with high-tempo CQB performance.

The Geissele Super MCX SSA trigger is a two-stage, drop-in assembly built for the SIG MCX rifle and carbine platform. Derived from the CRANE Safety Certified Super Semi-Automatic (SSA) used in M4 carbines, this trigger translates combat-proven engineering into a civilian and LE package that balances precision and speed. The first stage measures 2.75–3 lbs., the second stage breaks at 1.5–1.75 lbs., and total pull weight lands near 4.5 lbs. — light enough for precision work, forgiving enough for close-quarter engagements under stress. The curved trigger bow follows Geissele’s standard geometry, providing consistent contact across shooters of different hand sizes and grip styles.

The Mechanism

The Super MCX SSA uses a two-stage sear engagement. In the first stage, you take up slack and seat the trigger finger; in the second stage, pressure on the sear reaches the break point and releases the hammer. The first-stage wall is tactile but not abrupt, the second-stage break is crisp with minimal overtravel, and reset is short and audible. The trigger is machined from tool steel, heat-treated, and coated with a nickel-boron finish for corrosion resistance and reduced friction. Springs are music-wire grade, hammer and disconnect geometry mirrors the CRANE SSA profile, and all pins are supplied with the assembly. This trigger is specific to the SIG MCX — it will not fit AR-15 lower receivers, and attempting installation in a Pistol Caliber Carbine AR15/M4 variant voids warranty and may result in unsafe function.

The Super MCX SSA installs without gunsmithing. Remove the original trigger assembly from your SIG MCX lower, slide the Geissele unit into place, secure with the supplied pins, and perform a function check. The trigger is sold as a complete assembly; no parts interchange with AR-15 fire-control groups. If you run an MCX Virtus, Rattler, or legacy MCX, this trigger fits all three receiver generations. For shooters who need a predictable break under time pressure — LE, competitive 3-gun on MCX platforms, or hunters taking supported shots at extended range — the two-stage design gives you a wall you can prep against before committing to the shot. Who It’s For

This trigger is built for SIG MCX owners who want precision and control in one package. Law enforcement officers running MCX carbines for patrol or entry work will find the 4.5 lb pull forgiving under adrenaline but light enough for accurate fire at distance. Competitive shooters in carbine divisions appreciate the crisp break and short reset when transitioning between targets. Hunters using the MCX for hog, predator, or varmint work gain a trigger that supports clean shots from field positions without excessive staging time. If you run your MCX hard — classes, matches, or field use — the nickel-boron coating and music-wire springs maintain consistent pull weight across thousands of cycles.

Installation Notes

Clear your MCX and remove the magazine. Drive out the original trigger and hammer pins from left to right, capture the factory trigger assembly, and set it aside. Install the Super MCX SSA by aligning the trigger and hammer holes with the receiver pin holes, then tap the supplied pins from right to left until flush. Reinstall the pistol grip and safety selector. Function-check: with the bolt carrier group installed and magazine removed, pull the trigger to drop the hammer, hold the trigger rearward, manually cycle the charging handle to reset the hammer, then release the trigger slowly until you hear and feel the reset click. Pull the trigger again — the hammer should fall. Repeat this cycle three times. If the hammer follows the bolt carrier group forward or fails to catch on reset, remove the trigger and verify that all pins are fully seated and that no burrs or debris are obstructing sear engagement. Do not attempt to install this trigger in an AR-15 lower or PCC variant; doing so voids warranty and creates an unsafe condition.

Safe Handling & Compliance

Per current ATF guidance, the Super MCX SSA is classified as a semi-automatic trigger assembly — each round fired requires a discrete trigger function, and the device does not convert a firearm to automatic fire. Regulatory status has changed before and may change again; verify current federal and state law before ordering.

  • Observe the four universal rules of firearms safety at all times: treat every firearm as loaded, never point the muzzle at anything you are not willing to destroy, keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire, and be certain of your target and what lies beyond it. Review the rules at NSSF Firearms Safety.
  • Some states restrict the installation of aftermarket triggers or regulate minimum trigger pull weights. Verify that your jurisdiction permits this trigger before installation. See our state restrictions guide for current information.
  • This trigger is designed exclusively for the SIG MCX platform. Do not install in AR-15 lower receivers, Pistol Caliber Carbine AR15/M4 variants, or any other platform. Misapplication voids warranty and may result in unintended full-auto function or failure to fire.
