Sig Sauer Platinum Hunter 270 Winchester ammo runs a 150-grain Nosler AccuBond bonded core bullet at 2850 feet per second, delivering 2705 foot-pounds of muzzle energy. That bonded core construction holds together on heavy bone contact — no jacket separation, no fragmentation before the vitals. The polymer tip initiates expansion at impact velocities as low as 1800 fps, so you get reliable mushrooming whether you’re shooting a whitetail at 75 yards or a bull elk at 400. Sig loads this round in corrosion-resistant nickel-plated brass with a Boxer primer and waterproofs the primer pocket for wet-weather hunts across timber, high country, and coastal fog zones.
Built for the Box
Sig Sauer developed the Platinum Hunter series in collaboration with Meateater to address the gap between volume-loaded hunting ammo and boutique handloads. The 150-grain AccuBond sits at the mid-weight node for 270 Winchester — light enough to maintain flat trajectory out past 300 yards, heavy enough to carry sectional density through shoulder joints on mature deer and antelope. The 0.5 G1 ballistic coefficient keeps velocity above 2000 fps beyond 500 yards at sea level, assuming a 200-yard zero. Nickel cases feed reliably in controlled-round-feed Mauser actions, push-feed Remington 700s, and semi-auto Browning BARs. Each case is reloadable, and the Boxer primer simplifies component swaps if you want to tailor charges to a specific barrel length or elevation band.

This load was designed for hunters who zero at 200 yards and hold over at distance rather than dialing turrets. The 150-grain AccuBond drops approximately 7 inches at 300 yards, 20 inches at 400 yards, and 42 inches at 500 yards under standard atmospheric conditions.
