The 6.5 Creedmoor 140 grain JSP from Sellier & Bellot puts 2657 feet per second behind a jacketed soft point projectile designed for controlled expansion on medium game and precision work at the range. The 6.5 Creedmoor is a centerfire rifle cartridge introduced in 2007, engineered for long-range target shooting and hunting whitetail, mule deer, and hogs at extended distances. This load balances velocity with bullet weight: 140 grains deliver a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.417 and a sectional density of 0.287, minimizing wind drift and retaining energy past 500 yards. Sellier & Bellot manufactures this ammunition in the Czech Republic using boxer-primed brass cases and non-corrosive propellant. The soft point nose creates a uniform mushroom on impact, transferring energy without fragmenting excessively. Brass cases are reloadable for handloaders running precision bolt-action platforms. Each box contains 20 rounds.
Built for the Box
Sellier & Bellot has produced cartridge ammunition since 1825. In 2009, the Brazilian firm CBC (Magtech) acquired the company, merging it with German manufacturer MEN to form one of the world’s largest ammunition conglomerates. The 140-grain JSP load uses a gilding metal jacket over a lead core, with the soft lead nose exposed to initiate expansion on contact. Muzzle energy reaches 2194 foot-pounds, adequate for whitetail-size game inside 300 yards when fired from a 24-inch barrel. The 0.417 BC holds velocity better than lighter 6.5mm bullets, and the 0.287 sectional density ensures penetration through heavy muscle and bone. Boxer primers seat flush in new brass cases, simplifying decapping and repriming for reloaders. The propellant is non-corrosive, eliminating salt deposits that accelerate bore erosion. Shipping weight is 1.105 pounds per box; this ammunition is DOT-regulated and ships via ground transport only.

This load fits bolt-action and semi-automatic rifles chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor with SAAMI-spec chambers and 1:8 or faster rifling twist. The 140-grain projectile stabilizes in standard 1:8-inch twist barrels and feeds reliably through AICS-pattern magazines. For additional 6.5 Creedmoor offerings, see our 6.5 Creedmoor ammo category.
Safe Handling & Compliance
Federal law requires purchasers to be at least 18 years old for rifle and shotgun ammunition, and at least 21 for handgun ammunition. Ammunition cannot be shipped to certain states, counties, and cities — review our ammunition shipping restrictions before ordering. Store ammunition in a cool, dry location away from heat sources and out of reach of unauthorized users.
- Follow the four universal rules of firearms safety: treat every firearm as loaded, never point at anything you are not willing to destroy, keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire, and know your target and what lies beyond it.
- Verify that the ammunition matches the caliber stamped on your firearm’s barrel or chamber. Never fire 6.5 Creedmoor in a rifle chambered for a different cartridge.
- This ammunition contains lead. Proposition 65 warning: Cancer and reproductive harm — www.P65Warnings.ca.gov. Wash hands after handling, do not eat or smoke while shooting, and shower after extended range sessions.
