The 7mm-08 Remington cartridge was introduced in 1980 as a necked-down .308 Winchester case, offering flatter trajectory and lower recoil than its parent while retaining terminal performance on deer-sized animals. Remington pairs the Core-Lokt bullet—mechanically locked jacket and core—with a 2860 fps muzzle velocity and 2542 ft-lbs of energy, balancing penetration with expansion across typical hunting ranges.
