The PPU 30-06 Springfield blank ammo is a training and ceremonial cartridge loaded without a projectile, designed to produce muzzle flash and audible report without launching a bullet. Blank cartridges serve military drill teams, film and stage productions, starter pistols, and controlled training exercises where live fire is impractical or prohibited. PPU, producing ammunition in Serbia since 1928, loads these blanks with non-corrosive powder in reloadable brass cases, giving training budgets extended mileage through case reuse.
Performance at a Glance
Each blank round carries a Boxer primer in a brass case, striking hard enough to ignite the powder charge that generates gas and noise but contains no bullet. The absence of a projectile means zero ballistic data—no muzzle velocity, no muzzle energy, no downrange trajectory. What you get is flash, sound, and recoil impulse sufficient for close-order drill, breaching charge simulation, or dog training exercises. The lead-free powder meets indoor range requirements and reduces environmental residue in outdoor training pits.

Fifteen rounds ship in each box, enough for a single drill cycle or a day’s worth of dog-training marks. Brass cases accept standard large-rifle Boxer primers and can be reloaded with appropriate blank-load data—most reloaders crimp the case mouth over a cotton or paper wad to contain the powder charge. Because blanks generate high port pressure without a bullet to provide backpressure, semi-automatic rifles will not cycle; blank-firing adapters (BFAs) are required to build enough gas pressure to operate the action. Always use blanks in bolt-action or single-shot platforms unless the firearm is fitted with a manufacturer-approved BFA.
Safe Handling & Compliance
Federal law requires purchasers to be at least 18 years old for rifle and shotgun ammunition, and at least 21 for handgun ammunition. Ammunition cannot be shipped to certain states, counties, and cities—review our ammunition shipping restrictions before ordering. Store ammunition in a cool, dry location away from heat sources and out of reach of unauthorized users.
- Treat every blank as if it were live—muzzle discipline, trigger discipline, and target awareness remain in force.
- Never fire blanks at close range toward people or animals; wadding and unburned powder exit the muzzle at high velocity and can cause serious injury within arm’s length.
- Verify state and local restrictions on blank ammunition, especially in jurisdictions that regulate theatrical or ceremonial firearm use.
