The Nosler Trophy Grade 28 Nosler ammo delivers 175 grains of bonded polymer-tip precision for hunters who measure shots in hundreds of yards, not tens. The 28 Nosler cartridge—a rebated-rim magnum introduced in 2015—pushes heavy-for-caliber bullets to velocities that flatten trajectory and extend terminal performance well past conventional .270 or 7mm Rem Mag envelopes. This Trophy Grade load seats the AccuBond Long Range projectile, which combines a proprietary bonding process (eliminating core voids) with a tangent ogive and long bearing surface designed for high BC flight. At 3125 fps muzzle velocity and 3806 ft-lbs of energy, the round retains supersonic speed and expansion-threshold velocity beyond 800 yards in standard atmospheric conditions, making it a defensible choice for elk, mule deer, and other big game at extended range.
Built for the Box
Nosler manufactures Trophy Grade ammunition on production runs subject to the same hand-inspection protocol used for their premium hunting bullets. Each case is Nosler Custom brass—flash-hole deburred, weight-sorted, and annealed for consistent neck tension. Boxer primers seat flush, and powder charges are metered to tolerances that keep extreme spread under 25 fps in most test lots. The 175-grain AccuBond Long Range bullet features a white polymer tip that resists deformation in the magazine and initiates expansion on impact, a copper-alloy jacket bonded to a lead-alloy core, and a boat-tail base that reduces drag. The bonding process retains 60-70% of original weight after penetration, ensuring deep wound channels and exit wounds on heavy-boned game. G1 ballistic coefficient is 0.648, sectional density is 0.31. Cases are reloadable; spent primers punch cleanly. The load is not corrosive and contains lead (California Prop 65 applies).

The 28 Nosler operates at higher chamber pressures than most belted magnums, generating faster barrel wear—expect 1000-1500 rounds of accurate barrel life in most rifles. Pair this load with a 1:9 or faster twist rate for full stability. For additional hunting-grade and target ammunition options, browse our full 28 Nosler ammo inventory.
Safe Handling & Compliance
Federal law requires purchasers to be at least 18 years old for rifle and shotgun ammunition, and at least 21 for handgun ammunition. Ammunition cannot be shipped to certain states, counties, and cities — review our ammunition shipping restrictions before ordering. Store ammunition in a cool, dry location away from heat sources and out of reach of unauthorized users.
- Follow the four universal rules of firearm safety at all times.
- Verify state and local laws before purchasing — some jurisdictions restrict magnum rifle cartridges or impose magazine-capacity limits that affect how you load a rifle chambered in 28 Nosler.
- This ammunition contains lead; California Proposition 65 applies. Range ventilation and hand-washing after handling reduce exposure risk.
