The Nosler Trophy Grade 270 Winchester load chambers a 150 grain Nosler Partition jacketed soft point—a dual-core bullet engineered to balance rapid expansion with deep penetration on medium to large game. At 2800 fps from a 24-inch test barrel, this load delivers 2611 ft-lbs of muzzle energy, a sectional density of 0.279, and a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.465 for flatter trajectories at hunting distances. The Partition’s internal wall separates the front lead core—which mushrooms on impact—from the rear core, which remains intact to drive through tissue and bone. You get reliable weight retention and exit wounds on deer, elk, and similar-sized animals where shot angles aren’t always ideal.

The Nosler Partition design dates to 1948 and remains unchanged because the engineering works: a fully tapered jacket that ruptures at the thin front section, gradual thickening along the shank to control petal expansion, and a crimped rear core that holds together under magnum pressures.
