For revolver hunters working thick cover or backed-up by a heavy-caliber sidearm, Magtech delivers the 500 S&W Magnum 325 grain semi-jacketed soft point — a hunting-specific load engineered to penetrate deep and expand reliably. The 500 Smith & Wesson Magnum is the most powerful production revolver cartridge in current manufacture, developed jointly by Smith & Wesson and Cor-Bon in 2003 for long-range handgun hunting and dangerous game backup. This Magtech variant pushes a 325 grain SJSP projectile to 1801 feet per second, producing 2341 foot-pounds of muzzle energy — enough to ethically take deer, hogs, black bear, and similarly sized game within the shooter’s effective range.
Built for the Box
Magtech manufactures all primer, brass, powder, and projectile components in-house at its São Paulo facility, controlling quality from raw material to loaded round. The 325 grain semi-jacketed soft point features a lead core with partial copper jacket — the exposed lead nose initiates expansion on impact, while the jacket base maintains structural integrity during deep penetration through bone and muscle. Brass cases carry non-corrosive boxer primers, making these rounds reloadable for handloaders who want to tailor velocity and pressure for their specific revolver.

This load works in any revolver chambered for 500 S&W ammo, including Smith & Wesson X-Frame models and single-shot specialty pistols. Expect sharp recoil — the 500 S&W Magnum generates more than twice the recoil energy of a 44 Magnum — so a firm grip and proper technique are mandatory.
Safe Handling & Compliance
Federal law requires purchasers to be at least 18 years old for rifle and shotgun ammunition, and at least 21 for handgun ammunition. Ammunition cannot be shipped to certain states, counties, and cities — review our ammunition shipping restrictions before ordering. Store ammunition in a cool, dry location away from heat sources and out of reach of unauthorized users.
- Always treat every firearm as if it is loaded — keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction and your finger off the trigger until ready to fire.
- Verify current federal, state, and local ammunition laws before purchasing — some jurisdictions restrict handgun ammunition sales or impose waiting periods.
- This ammunition contains lead, a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer and reproductive harm under Proposition 65 — wash hands after handling and ensure adequate ventilation at indoor ranges.
