For shooters carrying 380 ACP pistols in concealed or backup roles, the Grizzly Cartridge 90 grain Jacketed Hollow Point brings documented terminal performance to the smallest defensive platforms. 380 ACP defensive ammo must balance expansion, penetration, and reliable feeding in short-barreled pistols — this load addresses all three through flash-suppressed propellant and a hollow-point cavity engineered for expansion at moderate velocities. Grizzly Cartridge Company was founded in 2003 with strict quality protocols; the company’s founder personally inspects each manufacturing stage to maintain lot-to-lot consistency.
Performance at a Glance
The 90 grain JHP exits compact 380 barrels at 1100 feet per second, generating 242 foot-pounds of muzzle energy. That velocity places this load in the upper band for 380 ACP and supports controlled expansion in calibrated ballistic gelatin. The jacketed hollow point uses a scored nose cavity to initiate expansion on impact while the copper jacket controls petal formation. Flash-suppressed powder reduces muzzle signature in low-light scenarios — critical for defensive encounters where night vision preservation matters. Boxer primers and reloadable brass cases allow shooters to practice with fired cases and develop tailored handloads.

This defensive load feeds reliably in popular 380 platforms including the Ruger LCP, SIG P238, Glock 42, and Bersa Thunder. The 90 grain weight matches the operating characteristics of most 380 pistol springs and extractors. For shooters building a 380 ammo rotation, this load serves as a primary carry option alongside practice-grade FMJ for live-fire drills.
Safe Handling & Compliance
Federal law requires purchasers to be at least 18 years old for rifle and shotgun ammunition, and at least 21 for handgun ammunition. Ammunition cannot be shipped to certain states, counties, and cities — review our ammunition shipping restrictions before ordering. Store ammunition in a cool, dry location away from heat sources and out of reach of unauthorized users.
- Treat every firearm as if it is loaded. Keep finger off trigger until sights are on target and you have made the decision to fire. Never point a firearm at anything you are not willing to destroy. Be certain of your target and what lies beyond it.
- Verify current federal, state, and local laws governing ammunition purchase, possession, and use in your jurisdiction before ordering.
- This ammunition contains lead, a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Use adequate ventilation at indoor ranges and wash hands after handling ammunition and fired cases.
