The G-Flex reflex trigger from Performance Triggers introduces pull-and-release firing to Glock Gen 3, Gen 4, and Gen 5 pistols. Fire one round when the trigger moves rearward, and a second round when the trigger resets forward. This mechanism delivers faster split times compared to standard semi-automatic triggers while maintaining compliance with current ATF guidance on semi-automatic trigger assemblies. Each round fired requires a discrete trigger function — one pull, one release — meeting the federal definition of semi-automatic fire.

The Mechanism

The G-Flex employs Reflex Trigger Technology: a sear engagement system that fires on both the pull stroke and the release stroke. The trigger bar engages the firing pin safety plunger twice per cycle, resetting automatically during forward motion. The mechanism fits within the factory Glock trigger housing and uses OEM connector and spring components. Installation requires removal of the factory trigger shoe, bar, and housing; the G-Flex assembly drops in without permanent modification to the frame or slide. Total install time: 15-20 minutes with basic Glock armorer tools.

Who It’s For

Competitive shooters running USPSA, IDPA, or steel challenge drills will see immediate improvement in transition speed and follow-up shot cadence. The binary mechanism cuts split times by eliminating the dead space between trigger reset and next pull — the release stroke does the work. Enthusiasts seeking maximum rounds downrange in minimum time will benefit from the increased rate of fire. New shooters and those unfamiliar with binary triggers should practice on an empty range with close supervision; the release-fire function requires deliberate trigger discipline and muzzle control.

Installation Notes

Remove the Glock slide and field-strip the frame. Punch out the trigger housing pin, remove the factory trigger assembly, and install the G-Flex housing with trigger bar and shoe pre-assembled. Reinstall the trigger housing pin, verify sear engagement by dry-firing (chamber empty, no magazine), and check that the firing pin safety plunger disengages on both pull and release. Test fire with live ammunition in a controlled environment. Some states restrict binary triggers; verify state and local law before installation. Do not modify the G-Flex mechanism or combine with aftermarket connectors not approved by Performance Triggers.

Safe Handling & Compliance

Per current ATF guidance, binary triggers are classified as semi-automatic trigger assemblies — each round fired requires a discrete trigger function, and the device does not convert a firearm to automatic fire. Regulatory status has changed before and may change again; verify current federal and state law before ordering.

  • Treat every firearm as if it is loaded. Keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction at all times. Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire. Be certain of your target and what lies beyond it.
  • Binary triggers are prohibited or restricted in California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Washington, and the District of Columbia. Additional county and municipal restrictions may apply. Verify compliance before purchase and installation.
  • The G-Flex fires on trigger release. Maintain strict muzzle discipline during the entire trigger cycle — pulling the trigger initiates a two-round sequence that cannot be interrupted without decocking or clearing the chamber. Practice with snap caps before live fire.
