Federal Top Gun Sporting 410 ammo is a sporting clays load engineered for the smaller bore platform. The .410 gauge has long been the domain of upland hunters and youth shooters, but Federal’s Top Gun Sporting line brings dedicated clay-breaking performance to the 410 bore. Each 2-1/2″ shell launches 1/2 oz of #9 lead shot at 1330 fps — velocity high enough to shorten leads on crossing targets, yet balanced to keep recoil in check for fast follow-up shots. Federal manufactures these shells in the United States using hard lead pellets, boxer primers, and reloadable hulls crimped with a 6-point star. The load is non-toxic exempt (lead shot), non-corrosive, and designed for smooth bore barrels.
Built for the Box
Federal’s Top Gun Sporting line extends the company’s decades-long reputation in clay target ammunition to the sporting clays discipline. The 410 bore variant uses the same hard-pellet construction and velocity profile as its 12 and 20 gauge siblings, scaled to the smaller payload. At 1330 fps, the load sits at the upper end of 410 velocity brackets — faster than most field loads, slower than some steel waterfowl equivalents. The half-ounce payload of #9 shot contains approximately 585 pellets per shell, sufficient for dense patterns on standard clay presentations out to 25 yards. The boxer primer is non-corrosive and seats consistently, and the reloadable plastic hull accepts standard 410 wads and shot charges. Federal does not buffer this load; the hard pellets resist deformation during setback, maintaining round geometry through the choke. The 6-point star crimp opens cleanly and contributes to consistent shot column release.

This 250-round bulk pack ships as ten 25-round boxes, suitable for extended range sessions or club shoots. The load is designed for sporting clays stations where 410 bore is permitted or preferred. More Federal 410 ammo variants are available for field and skeet applications.
Safe Handling & Compliance
