The Buffalo Bore 45 ACP +P ammo in 230-grain full metal jacket configuration delivers elevated pressures and velocities for shooters running modern 1911s, XDs, and other service-grade 45 ACP platforms. Loaded to maximum SAAMI +P specifications, this round pushes beyond the standard 45 ACP pressure ceiling — giving you faster cycling, deeper penetration, and increased slide velocity. It is not dimensionally different from standard 45 ACP, so it chambers in any 45 ACP firearm, but the elevated pressure means it is intended for guns in normal operating condition and manufactured within the last few decades. If your pistol predates 1980 or shows worn internal parts, verify with a gunsmith before running +P loads.
Load Profile
Each round seats a 230-grain full metal jacket projectile atop a brass case with a boxer primer. Buffalo Bore sources brass from multiple manufacturers, so the headstamp may read “45 ACP,” “45 ACP +P,” or simply “45 Auto” — the load pressure remains constant regardless of marking. The company loads to the top of the SAAMI +P window, which for 45 ACP is 23,000 psi (versus 21,000 psi for standard-pressure loads). That 2,000 psi increase translates to roughly 50-75 fps more velocity at the muzzle, depending on barrel length, and noticeably sharper recoil impulse. Cases are reloadable and non-corrosive. A Wolf spring rated 4-6 pounds heavier than factory spec will slow the slide’s rearward travel and reduce frame battering.
