The Ammo Inc. Streak Visual 40 S&W 180-grain jacketed hollow point represents a significant departure from conventional defensive ammunition by incorporating patented visual tracer technology that allows shooters to track projectile trajectory in real time. Unlike pyrotechnic tracers that generate heat and present fire hazards, Streak rounds use a non-incendiary phosphorescent compound on the bullet base that illuminates the flight path without thermal signature — making this 40 S&W JHP ammo safe for both indoor range environments and outdoor training scenarios where traditional tracers are prohibited. Loaded to 960 fps from a service pistol, the 180-grain jacketed hollow point delivers 368 ft-lbs of muzzle energy with expansion characteristics suited to self-defense applications, while the visual feedback aids in diagnosing trigger control, recoil management, and follow-through under low-light conditions.
Built for the Box
Each Streak Visual round starts with new-production brass cases carrying non-corrosive Boxer primers and a 180-grain jacketed hollow point bullet designed to expand upon contact with soft tissue while maintaining structural integrity through intermediate barriers. The proprietary Streak compound is applied to the bullet base during manufacturing — as the round leaves the barrel, air friction activates the phosphorescent material, creating a visible trace that persists for approximately 100 yards in daylight and extends noticeably farther in low-light or indoor settings. Ammo Inc. integrates HyperClean Technology into the propellant formulation, reducing fouling by up to 50 percent compared to standard powders and cutting post-session cleaning time significantly. Brass cases remain reloadable after firing, and the non-magnetic projectile construction ensures compatibility with steel-target backstops commonly found at commercial ranges.

This load fits the broader landscape of 40 cal ammo by adding diagnostic capability to defensive training — the visual trace lets instructors and shooters immediately identify shot placement trends during rapid-fire drills, while the 180-grain bullet weight provides sufficient sectional density for barrier penetration and consistent expansion in ballistic gel testing at defensive engagement distances.
Safe Handling & Compliance
Federal law requires purchasers to be at least 18 years old for rifle and shotgun ammunition, and at least 21 for handgun ammunition. Ammunition cannot be shipped to certain states, counties, and cities — review our ammunition shipping restrictions before ordering. Store ammunition in a cool, dry location away from heat sources and out of reach of unauthorized users.
- Follow the four rules of firearms safety at all times — treat every firearm as loaded, keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire, never point the muzzle at anything you are not willing to destroy, and know your target and what lies beyond it.
- Verify current federal, state, and local laws governing ammunition purchase, possession, and use in your jurisdiction — regulations vary by location and change periodically.
- This product contains lead, a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm — wash hands thoroughly after handling ammunition, avoid inhalation of discharge residue, and ensure adequate ventilation during indoor shooting.
