Schuetzen 3F Black Powder is a traditional propellant engineered for .45-caliber rifles and smaller bore firearms, as well as muzzleloading pistols and cap-and-ball revolvers. The 3F granulation — 0.5 to 0.8 millimeters — delivers fast ignition and a progressive pressure curve, making it the go-to choice for shooters who require consistent flash-to-bang timing in percussion systems. WANO Schwarzpulver GmbH has manufactured black powder continuously since 1682, and the Schuetzen line is formulated specifically for the United States market.
Build & Materials
This powder uses a triple-charcoal blend — Alder, Hazelnut, and Maple — a European tradition that reduces fouling and produces cleaner combustion compared to single-charcoal formulations. Black powder generates a slow, progressive pressure buildup, which is why it remains the standard for muzzleloaders and cartridge rifles chambered for traditional black-powder loads. Schuetzen 3F is sized finer than 2F granulations, which means faster burn rates suited to smaller bores and shorter barrels where quick ignition is critical.
