State Restrictions on Firearms, Ammunition, and Related Products

State Restrictions on Firearms, Ammunition, and Related Products

State law varies substantially across the United States. Some states restrict specific firearm configurations (feature bans, magazine capacity limits), some restrict ammunition components (lead, armor-piercing), and some require intermediate steps (permits, background checks, waiting periods) before a firearm can be delivered to a resident of that state. The summary below is organized by the most common categories of restriction we see on Tatted Tacticals orders.

This page is not legal advice. State and local law changes frequently, and city or county ordinances layer on top of state law. Before placing an order, the buyer is responsible for verifying that the specific product is legal at the delivery address.

Categorical Restrictions by State

The following table groups states by the type of restriction most relevant to our catalog. A state may appear under more than one category. Specific product restrictions (for example, a state magazine capacity limit at 10 rounds) are listed on individual product pages where applicable.

How This Affects Your Order

All firearms ship through a licensed FFL dealer in the buyer’s state. At the transfer point, your FFL dealer will run a NICS background check and will not release the firearm if state law prohibits possession of that specific model, feature set, or magazine capacity at that address.

Ammunition orders ship directly to the buyer in most states, but not all. See the ammunition shipping rules page for the current list of states, counties, and cities we cannot ship ammunition to.

Magazines, trigger assemblies, and parts kits follow state-specific rules that may differ from the complete-firearm rules. If the product page does not call out a restriction for your state, that is not confirmation the product is legal at your address — verify before ordering.

Buyer Responsibility Statement

By placing an order, you affirm that the product is legal for you to possess at the delivery address under federal, state, and local law. If an order is refused by the receiving FFL for a compliance reason, our returns policy describes the refund path. Refused firearm transfers are handled case-by-case; restocking fees may apply.
